CAMBRIDGE,
Mass. – For the first
time this season, the America East Conference has named co-Players of the Week
in women’s basketball. Albany’s Lindsey Lowrie and Boston University’s Chantell
Alford both earned the distinction after having big scoring weeks for their
respective squads. Maine freshmen Lauren Bodine earned Rookie of the Week for
the first time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Alford (West Haven, Conn.) earns Player of the Week for the
sixth time this season after leading the conference in both scoring and assists
for the week, averaging 25.5 points and 5.5 assists to go with 2.5 steals and
1.0 blocks per game. Alford shot 54.8 percent from the floor, 46.2 percent from

Week honor of the season after hitting clutch shots in wins over Boston U. and
Vermont, helping the Great Danes earn at least a share of their first ever
America East regular-season title. Lowrie averaged 18.0 points per game,
connecting on 55.6 percent of her 3-point attempts for the week while also
averaging 2.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. In Albany’s win over Boston U.,
Lowrie hit five-of-seven from deep, finishing with 17 points and four rebounds.
