BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University at Albany (23-3, 14-0) women's basketball team clinched at-least a share of its first America East Conference regular-season title in program history with a 68-52 win over Vermont (8-19, 5-9) on Sunday.

Playing without leading scorer Ebone Henry, several Great Danes stepped in the scoring role on Sunday, including freshman Shereesha Richards who scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Great Danes forced Vermont into 15 first-half turnovers, scoring 20 points off those miscues as Albany led from start to finish. Lindsay Lowrie had a big first half, registering five steals while hitting three 3-pointers. Richards scored 15 points in the first half.

Albany shot 55.6-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes while holding Vermont to 35-percent. The Great Danes also outscored the Catamounts 20-10 in the paint.

Vermont scored the first six points of the second half to come within 16, but a 7-0 run by Albany pushed the lead back to 21. The Catamounts came within 16 one more time, but the Great Danes used another run to push the lead back to 20.
