Boston U. Downs UNH in Men's Hoops Action to Wrap Up the Weekend

Just two weeks remain in the America East men's basketball regular season after a weekend that saw Albany and Boston earn convincing road wins and Maine tough out a road victory.

On Sunday, Boston U. (15-11, 9-4 AE) made its first eight shots and jumped out to a 19-6 lead on  New Hampshire (7-17, 3-9 AE) and held on for a 68-56 win, its fourth straight and seventh in its last eight games. The win moved Boston U. into a tie for second place with Vermont in the league standings. Maurice Watson, Jr. led four Terriers in double figures with 13 points and added 10 rebounds for his first double-double. Chandler Rhoads had 11 points to lead UNH.

On Saturday, the Great Danes (19-8, 8-5 AE) moved into sole possession of third place in the league standings with a convincing 75-49 win over Hartford (14-12, 7-6 AE). Albany, which matched last year's win total with the victory, shot 55 percent from the field while holding the Hawks to just 30 percent shooting. Jacob Iati led Albany with 18 points, while Mark Nwakamma paced Hartford with 12.

Also Saturday, the Black Bears (11-15, 6-7 AE) picked up their third straight win, a 64-60 victory at Binghamton (3-23, 1-12 AE). Maine held Binghamton to just 30 percent shooting en route to the win. Zarko Valjarevic tallied a career-best 25 points, while Jordan Reed had a career-high 29 points and 15 rebounds, his league-leading 11th double-double of the year.
