Hartford (16-8, 7-4) has won 7 of its last 9 games
after getting off to an 0-2 start in conference play, and sits third in the
America East standings behind Albany and Boston U. The Hawks defeated Maine
(2-21, 1-9), 52-37, in the first meeting between the two teams in Orono. The
Hawks have been one of the strong defensive teams in the conference during
league play, allowing just 46.6 points per game. Offensively, the Hawks have
received a scoring boost since the return of sophomore Amber Bepko, who missed

without Bepko, Hartford averaged just 47.4 points per game compared to 55.3
points per game since her return.
The Black Bears have been paced by one of the top
freshmen in the conference in Liz Wood. Wood is averaging 9.1 points per game,
which is second among all America East rookies while leading freshmen in
rebounding at 6.3 per game and assists at 2.43 per game.
Also on Wednesday, Boston U. (20-4, 10-1) brings its
four-game winning streak to Burlington to battle Vermont (7-16, 4-6), who has
lost four-straight contests. New Hampshire (9-13, 4-6) is at UMBC (8-16, 4-7)
in a very important game for seeding in the America East Championship. The
Wildcats edged the Retrievers by one point in Durham in the first meeting.
