CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Binghamton junior Sherae Swinson led the Bearcats to a win over UMass at the Dartmouth/Blue Sky Classic to earn her first Player of the Week award of the season and the first for a Binghamton women’s basketball player since 2011. Maine’s Sigi Koizar took home Rookie of the Week honors as America East women’s basketball teams returned to action after a one week break for the holidays. Here are the week eight award winners:
Player of the Week
Sherae Swinson, Jr., Binghamton
Odenton, Md.
- Scored a game-high and season-high 19 points to go with six rebounds in a 56-51 win over UMass.
- Netted 13 of her 19 points in the second half, including three clutch free throws in the final 90 seconds to ice the game.
- Also added two blocks and two steals while hitting 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
- She has reached double figures in a team-best six games this season.
Rookie of the Week
Sigi Koizar, Fr., Maine
Vienna, Austria
- Scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists in Maine’s 76-75 loss at Sacred Heart
- Finished 3-of-6 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

- Stony Brook is off to its best 11-game start in school Division I history at 8-3 after winning both games of the Seawolves Holiday Classic.
- New Hampshire guard Kelsey Hogan reached the 300-assist mark to rank 11th in program history.
- The Seawolves have won four-straight games, the team’s longest winning streak since rattling off seven-straight in 2006-07.
- Stony Brook’s Sabre Proctor also averaged a double-double with 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds last week.
- Albany’s Shereesha Richards has six Player of the Week awards, tying her with multiple players for the most in a single season.
- Albany’s Shereesha Richards made 15 field goals vs. Dartmouth, the most for an America East player since New Hampshire’s Morgan Frame made 15 at wagner on 12/21/2011.
- Vermont’s 95 points vs. UMass Lowell are the most for any America East Conference team since the Catamounts posted 92 vs. Albany on Feb. 10, 2010.
- Maine started 3-0 for the first time since 1989.
- Stony Brook eclipsed the 80-point mark for the first time since 2007 with an 83-79 win at Bradley, who was receiving votes in the mid-major poll.
- Stony Brook’s Brittany Snow became the first Seawolf to score 30+ points in a game since 2007 with 30 points and nine rebounds vs. Bradley.
