11 AE Soccer Teams Honored By NSCAA

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – 11 America East men’s and women’s soccer teams earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award by posting team grade-point averages of 3.0 or greater for the 2012-13 academic year.

Three America East institutions were included in the 189 throughout the country that had both their men’s and women’s teams honored: Binghamton University, University of New Hampshire and Stony Brook University.

Joining Binghamton (3.45 GPA), New Hampshire (3.26) and Stony Brook (3.05) on the women’s side were Albany (3.01), Maine (3.44) and Vermont (3.25). The Bearcats posted the highest team GPA at 3.45, with the Black Bears close behind at 3.44.

On the men’s side, Hartford (3.39 GPA) and UMBC (3.08) were honored in addition to Binghamton (3.20), New Hampshire (3.00) and Stony Brook (3.02). The Hawks had the highest team GPA in the conference at 3.39.
