CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A pair of prolific shooting performances earned two players America East men's basketball weekly honors for Thanksgiving week: 


Player of the Week
Peter Hooley, So., Guard, Albany

  • Led Albany to a pair of wins last week by averaging 17.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and shooting 53 percent of the field.
  • Scored a career-best 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-7 from three-point land, in a win at Rider on Wednesday.
  • Had 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in Albany's win at NJIT Sunday.
  • Ranks fourth in the league, scoring 16.3 points per game. 
Rookie of the Week
Kurt Steidl, Fr., Forward, Vermont
  • Averaged 11.7 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 62 percent (8-for-13) from three-point land in three games last week.
  • Had career highs of 19 points (also a game high) and five rebounds in a win over Sonoma State Saturday.
Around the League
  • Albany posted wins over Rider and NJIT last week to climbe over .500 at 4-3.
  • Stony Brook sits atop the America East standings with a 5-3 record, including wins over Marist, Haverford, reigning CAA regular-season champion Northeastern, Florida Atlantic and Detroit this year.
  • Vermont won two of three games at the Golden State Challenge, posting wins over Illinois State and Sonoma State.
  • UMass Lowell beat Mount Ida Sunday to pick up its first win as a Division I program.
  • The Catamounts' Brian Voelkel is 24 rebounds shy of becoming just the ninth player in league history to reach the 1,000-mark.
  • Stony Brook's Anthony Jackson is one of just four players in the country to have made all his free throw attempts (min. 2.5 attempts per game). He's a perfect 20-for-20 on the season.
  • Maine and Binghamton will both play on ESPN3 this week. The Black Bears visit UConn Friday while the Bearcats go to Syracuse Saturday.
