CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – America East teams were busy over Thanksgiving break, with 19 women’s basketball games played last week including three teams in tournaments. Both Maine and Binghamton reached the final of their respective tournaments.  Albany remained unbeaten with a win in its lone game last week for the team’s best start in DI history at 6-0. Here are the week four award winners:

Player of the Week
Niki Taylor, Jr., Vermont
York, Maine

  • Posted back-to-back double-doubles in a 2-0 week for the Catamounts.
  • Averaged 17.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 60 percent from the field.
  • Ranked third in scoring, second in rebounding and fourth in shooting percentage for the week.
  • Had 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win at Wagner.
  • Totaled a career-high 23 points and matched a career-high with 15 rebounds in a league-opening win over UMass Lowell.

Rookie of the Week
Sara Tarbert, Fr., UMBC
Delta, Pa.

  • Averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for the Retrievers.
  • Led UMBC in points, rebounds, assists and steals for the week.
  • Started the week by nearly notching a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in a loss to Towson.
  • Followed that with her second double-double of the year against Rider with 14 points and 10 rebounds as well as three assists.
  • Closed the week with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting vs. Brown.

Around the League

  • Albany has won 22-straight regular season games and the 6-0 start is the best in the program’s DI history.
  • Vermont’s 95 points vs. UMass Lowell are the most for any America East Conference team since the Catamounts posted 92 vs. Albany on Feb. 10, 2010.
  • Maine started 3-0 for the first time since 1989.
  • Stony Brook eclipsed the 80-point mark for the first time since 2007 with an 83-79 win at Bradley, who was receiving votes in the mid-major poll.
  • Stony Brook’s Brittany Snow became the first Seawolf to score 30+ points in a game since 2007 with 30 points and nine rebounds vs. Bradley.
