CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a week in which institutional Indoor Track and Field Records were shattered, three of this week’s four Performer of the Week winners also hold top-six nationally ranked marks. Here’s a look at this week’s Indoor Track and Field Performers of the Week:
Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week
Taelor Murphy, Jr., UMass Lowell
Salisbury, Mass.
- Won two events en route to breaking UMass Lowell school records in the 200 and 400 meter dashes.
- Was victorious in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.21 seconds.
- Placed first in the 400 meter dash, finishing with a mark of 55.34.
- Tops all America East female runners in each event.
- Both event times rank third nationally among NCAA competitors according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Results Indoor Qualifying.
- 400 meter dash time ties Allison Roger’s 2013 championship winning time.
Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week
Candace Greene, Sr., UMass Lowell
Annapolis, Md.
- Won the shot put by a wide margin with a winning throw of 45’1.75” while participating in a meet that attracted competitors from 13 institutions at Boston University.
- Any one of her five throws would have won the competition.
- Currently ranks at the top of all America East female women shot put throwers.
- Ranks in the top-40 among all NCAA female shot put throwers (37th) according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Results Indoor Qualifying.
Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week
Kelton Cullenberg, Sr., Maine
Chesterville, Maine
- Topped all entrants in the 3,000 meter run against New Hampshire this past weekend.
- Posted a time of 8:16.84 to rank No. 1 in the league.
- His 3k time is third-fastest in the country so far this year according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Results Indoor Qualifying.
Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week
Justin Gagne, Jr., Maine
Biddeford, Maine
- Recorded a final distance of 60’5” (18.41 meters) in the shot put at the dual meet against New Hampshire this weekend.
- Placed first overall at the event to rank No. 1 in the conference and 6th in the country, according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Results Indoor Qualifying.
- Participated in the weight throw to garner a third-place finish with a mark of 54’8.75” (16.68 meters).
- His shot put mark is a program-best record, while his weight throw is a career-best.
Around the League – Women’s
- Maine’s Mary Scanlan ranks No. 1 in the 800 meter with a first-place time of 2:23.41, and Robyn McFetters recorded a first-place weight throw of 52’8.00” to lead the America East.
- Binghamton’s Keishorea Armstrong won the 60 meter dash at the season-opening meet with a school-record and ECAC qualifying time of 7.63, a 2013 America East best.
- UMBC competed at the Bison Opener at Bucknell. Mary Katherine Kulp finished with a career-best time of 5:14.07 moving up to eight all-time in program history, while Nneoma Edokobi recorded a career-best shot put toss of 42’4.25” (12.91 meters).
- Hartford’s Tiffany Harrison garnered two first-place finishes against Vermont and Merrimack with a 400-meter mark of 59.91 and a program-best time of 42.49 in the 300 meter.
- Savannah Brown of Hartford earned first place in the women’s triple jump, bounding to a mark of 33’10.25” (10.32 meters), while Sam Crisafulli posted a win in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:03.24.
- In Stony Brook’s Shi-Anne Humes’ first collegiate meet, she raced to a first-place finish in the 200 meter dash in 26.2 seconds and helped the Seawolves finish second in the 4x400 meter relay, clocking in at 4:15.5.
- Megan Liu of Stony Brook jumped 5.07 meters in the long jump to take first in the Fordam Quad meet.
- UNH’s Lauren Perrodin collected three wins for the Wildcats, registering a school-record of 7.20 seconds in the 55 meter dash. She also took first in the 200 meter dash (26.7) and helped her team take first in the 4x400 meter relay (4:12.61).
- Wildcat Abigail Huntress took first in the shot put with a measured throw of 12.34 meters.
- Vermont’s Mallory Honan posted a 55 meter hurdle time of 8.51 in her collegiate debut, while Brittany St. Clair took the high jump, clearing a height of 1.68 meters for the second-best mark in the league to this point.
Around the League – Men’s
- UMBC’s Randolph Patrice sits at the top of the conference with a 60 meter dash time of 6.98, while Mo Drammeh placed second overall in the high jump at Bucknell with a clearance of 6’7.00” (2.01 meters) to record his best leap since 2011-12.
- UMass Lowell’s men collected several first-place finishes at Boston University this past weekend, including a 400 meter time of 48.56 from Keith Lewis (1st in AE) and a high jump mark of 6’6.75” from Oluwatoni Onikeku (3rd in AE), which are good enough to rank 11th and 39th, respectively, in the country according to the latest USTFCCCA Track and Field Results Indoor Qualifying results.
- Hartford’s Erik Quitzau led the Hawk’s men with a program record of 8.24 in the 55 meter hurdles, while Reshawn Providence tallied a triple jump first-place mark of 44’2.75 (13.48 meters), with teammates Jordan Crump-King and Robert Pepper finishing right behind him at second and third, respectively.
- Stony Brook’s Chris Hand won the weight throw with a 14.94 meter throw and placed third in the shot put with a 12.19 meter throw.
- New Hampshire’s Steven Souza earned two first-place finishes for the Wildcats, including a time of 1:56.92 in the 800 meter run. Souza was also part of relay squad that clocked in at 8:09.47 in the 4x800, which current ranks No. 1 in the league.
- Vermont’s Romario Bailey captured a pair of track events in his Catamount debut in the 55 meter dash (6.54) and the 300 meter dash (36.47), while Colby Cunninham tallied his own pair of victories in field events, clinching the long jump (6.69 meters) and high jump (1.93 meters).
