2013-14 Men's Basketball Season Kicks Off Friday

The 2013-13 #AEHoops season offically gets underway on Friday as six men's teams are in action. America East is looking to build off a stellar 2012-13 campaign that saw five teams reach the postseason and eight of nine teams improved their RPIs from the previous year.

The 2013-14 season will be the first where America East teams will broadcast regular-season games live for free through the AmericaEast.TV portal. Non-conference home games and conference games will be available to fans free of charge.

On Friday, reigning America East champions Albany face crosstown-rival Siena in the Albany Cup. The Great Danes, who claimed their third league title last year, bring back six letterwinners and three starters from last year's team that won 24 games.

Stony Brook, which has won three of the last four America East regular-season crowns, faces Marist in a game that can be seen on AmericaEast.TV. The Seawolves bring back four starters including the 2012-13 Rookie of the Year Jameel Warney.

UMass Lowell playing its first Division I-contest at national runner-up #7/9 Michigan. Pat Duquette begins his first season as the River Hawks head coach.

Other matchups include Maine visiting Rhode Island, Binghamton, which features the top returning scorer, Jordan Reed, opening at home against Loyola on AmericaEast.TV and UMBC playing at Arizona State, a game that will be televised on the Pac 12 Network.
