CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The top-two seeds in the 2013 America East Women's Soccer Championship will play for the title on Saturday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md., as top-seeded UMBC defeated No. 4 Hartford, 2-0, and No. 2 seed Stony Brook slipped past No. 3 Maine in a penalty shootout. The Retrievers will host the title game for the first time in school history, while Stony Brook looks for its second-straight crown. Recap Sunday's semifinals:

- UMBC earned its first trip to the America East title game with its first tournament win, defeating No. 4 seed Hartford, 2-0, at Retriever Soccer Park Sunday afternoon.
- Both UMBC goals came in the first half, beginning with a tally 12:44 into the game by team leading-scorer Alexa Quaranta. Nikki Boretti played a quick free kick to Quaranta who was unmarked on the right side of the box, beating the keeper with a shot to the far left corner.
- The Retrievers added an insurance goal when Morgan Taylor scored her first goal of the season, chipping a ball that carried over Hartford keeper Jessica Jurg's head to make it 2-0 with less than eight minutes to play in the first half.
- UMBC held strong defensively in the second half, recording the team's fifth shutout of the season. Keeper Lauren Kadet made four stops for the Retrievers.
- It was the 12th win of the season for UMBC, setting a program record.
- The Retrievers are making their third tournament appearance in team history, losing in the quarterfinals in their previous two trips as a No. 6 seed.

- The Seawolves took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute, as Leah Yurko tallied her fourth goal of the season, finishing a rebound off a Larissa Nysch shot.
- The score remained that way until the 80th minute when Maine's Joanie L'Abbe found Lisa Bijman on a free kick for a header that tied the game at one.
- Neither team could breakthrough in either overtime with several great saves made by Stony Brook's Ashley Castanio and Maine's Claudia Dube-Trempe.
- In penalty kicks, both keepers stopped the first round of shots.
- In the second round, Stony Brook's Maxie New and Maine's Noelle Leon-Palmer both converted.
- Stony Brook gained the advantage in the third round with Larissa Nysch scoring and Castanio stopping a shot by Maggie Malone.
- In the third round, Caitlin Pfeiffer scored and the shot from Maine's Joanie L'Abbe hit the post, giving the Seawolves a 3-1 win in penalty kicks.
