Maine Off to Best Start Since '89; 5 Games Sat.

Maine (3-0) earned a, 66-50, win over LIU Brooklyn on Friday night to start 3-0 for the first time since 1989. The Black Bears were led by Ashleigh Roberts, who poured in 19 points, while Lauren Bodine went 5-of-7 from 3-point range to add 15 points. Maine held the Blackbirds to just 8-of-32 from the field in the second half.

Vermont (1-2) defeated North Florida, 68-44, on the first day of the TD Bank Classic. The Catamounts used a 20-2 run to expand at five point lead to 23 at 63-40 for 4:18 remaining. Freshman Kristina White led Vermont for 21 points, tying a TD Bank Classic record with six three-pointers. Vermont will take on Green Bay, the No. 2 ranked Mid-Major team in the country in the TD Bank Classic final at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Saturday has four other games on the schedule, beginning with UMBC (1-3) at Robert Morris at 1:30 p.m. The highest scoring team in the America East, UMass Lowell (0-3) makes a trip to St. Francis Brooklyn at 2 p.m. Hartford (1-2) plays its home opener against Massachusetts at 2 p.m. on AmericaEast.TV. Binghamton (0-3) closes out the 2 p.m. games at Niagara.
