Stony Brook is the lone America East men's hoops team in action Friday as the Seawolves kick off a three games in three days stretch in the 2K Sports Classic Detroit Subregional. SBU will face Toledo at 4:30 p.m.
The Seawolves (3-1) have the best record of any America East squad despite coming off a 90-74 loss at Indiana on Sunday. The matchup with the Rockets will pit contrasting styles against each other. SBU allows just 69 points per game, tied for best in the league, and allows foes to shoot just 41 percent, while the Rockets score 92 points per game.
On Wednesday, New Hampshire (2-2) held #25 Marquette to just 32 percent shooting and 58 points but could only muster up 53 points itself in a 58-53 loss. Patrick Konan paced the Wildcats with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Also Wednesday, Vermont (1-4) dropped its third straight, 68-61, at Wagner. The Catamounts fought back from a 12-point deficit to take a lead but were outscored by the Seahawks, 10-4, down the stretch. Clancy Rugg led UVM with 18 points and nine rebounds.
