#AEHoops Teams Go 4-1 Wednesday, UMBC in Action Thursday

America East men's basketball team put on an impressive showing Wednesday night as the five teams in action combined to go 4-1 with three of those wins coming on the road and the other against the reigning CAA regular-season champions.

Binghamton, Hartford, New Hampshire and Stony Brook all posted wins Tuesday while UMass Lowell fell at Boston University.

UNH (2-0) improved to 2-0 for the second time in three seasons with an 84-81 win at Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne. The Wildcats shot 53 percent from the field and made 15-of-27 three-point tries. Scott Morris led the way a career-high 17 points off the bench while Chris Pelcher recorded his second-straight double-double (14 points, 16 rebounds).

Stony Brook (3-0) won its 13th consecutive home game, beating last year's CAA regular-season champion Northeastern, 73-66. The Seawolves, who are 3-0 for the second-straight year, got a double-double from Jameel Warney (14 points, 10 rebounds), his third straight to start the year, and a team-high 17 points from Anthony Jackson to lead the charge.

Binghamton (1-2) rallied from 19 down in the second half to earn its first win of the season, 89-79 at Cornell. The Bearcats ended the game on a 17-2 run. Freshman Marlon Beck II scored 19 of his career-high 27 points in the pivotal half. Jordan Reed added a double-double of 25 points and 14 boards.

Playing for the second time in 36 hours and hundreds of miles apart, Hartford (1-2) got its first win of the year, beating Fairfield, 63-53, on the road. After hitting just 4-of-23 three-point tries in the loss to Florida Gulf Coast Tuesday, Hartford made 9-of-14 treys Wednesday. Newcomer Yasin Kolo scored a game-high 20 points off the bench while Mark Nwakamma had his second-straight double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds).

Also Wednesday, UMass Lowell (0-2) fell at Boston U., 91-65. The Terriers opened the game on a 22-4 run and never looked back. Akeem Williams paced the River Hawks with 18 points, four assists and four steals.

On Thursday, UMBC (1-1) aims for its second-straight win when it visits American. Sophomore Malik Garner is coming off a 32-point, 11-rebound performance in the Retrievers' win over Eastern Monday.
