CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a week consisting of solid competition, Maine and Vermont headline America East Swimming and Diving awards for Week #5. Here’s a look at this week’s award winners:
Swimmer of the Week
Christa Weaver, So., Vermont
South Burlington, Vt.
- Secured wins in three individual events and swam the anchor leg in the 400 free relay victory against Maine.
- Her individual victories included the 50 free (24.09), 100 free (52.29) and the 200 free (1:54.91).
- The Catamounts clocked in at 3:33.27 to set a new pool record in the 400 free relay.
- Weaver now has a team-leading 10 individual wins tallied this year.
- Has won every 100 freestyle event in every meet this season.
Diver of the Week
Kara Capossela, Sr., Maine
Greenwich, Conn.
- Won both events against America East foe Vermont.
- Registered scores of 238.9 in the one meter and 257.95 against the Catamounts.
- Capossela is undefeated in all four Black Bear meets this season.
Around the League
- Binghamton’s Corinne Zotter was part of two first place finishes in the Bearcats’ victory over Drexel, including a 200 breast time of 2:25.02.
- Katie Mann of UNH collected two individual victories in the 100 and 200 breast events, posting times of 1:05.22 and 2:17.25, respectively.
- Wildcat Nicole Zahka earned a pair of top-finishes on the boards, scoring 214.34 in the one-meter and 224.99 in the three-meter.
- Maine’s Naja Harvey won the 100-yard (1:06.77) and 200-yard (2:26.58) breaststroke events against Vermont.
