Albany's Del Fava, UNH's Prizzi Earn Week #5 Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A handful of America East cross country teams traveled to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. Participating teams were divided into two divisions, Gold and Brown, based on the most recent NCAA and regional rankings that were available. The winners of this week’s awards go to those student-athletes who performed best in the Paul Short Invitational.


Men’s Performer of the Week
John Prizzi, Jr., New Hampshire
Wyckoff, N.J.

  • Bested all America East men’s cross country runners in the Paul Short Invitational with an 8k time of 24:59.
  • Ran in the Gold Division heat to finish 62nd in a field of 395 runners.
  • Helped the Wildcats pick up 621 points, good enough to place 22nd of 47 teams.
  • The UNH men now rank 14th in the latest Northeast Regional USTFCCCA polls.

Around the League

  • UMBC’s Redatu Semeon recorded his career-best 8k time of 25:02 in the Gold Division at the Paul Short Invitational, to finish 65th out of 395 runners, just two spots behind Prizzi.
  • Christopher Buchanan of Albany raced in the Brown Division and crossed the line at 25:17 to finish 3rd among 372 runners.
  • UMBC makes some movement in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings and breaks into the top-10 at No. 9, while Maine rounds out the Northeast Regional Rankings at No. 15.


Women’s Performer of the Week
Silvia Del Fava, Jr., Albany

Lucca, Italy

  • Topped all America East runners in the Gold Division of the Paul Short Invitational with a 10th place finish.
  • She registered her career-best 6k time of 20:40.
  • Del Fava’s 6k time is the second-best in Albany history, just behind teammate Brittney Lane’s 20:24, which was earned at the Northeast Regionals a year ago.
  • Led Albany to a 23rd-place finish to help Albany maintain their Northeast Regional Rankings at No. 15.

Around the League

  • Vermont’s Yolanda Ngarambe raced in the Gold Division and finished 33rd with a 6k time of 21:12, while her teammate, Alicia Clark followed shortly behind, completing the course in 21:18 for 42nd.
  • Cody Mezebish paced UMBC to a 45th place finish in the Brown Division as she had an individual finish of 22:21 to place 19th.
  • Stony Brook remains atop America East foes as they sit at No. 8 in the most recent USTFCCCA Northeast Regional rankings.
  • UNH and Vermont are also ranked for the Northeast region at No. 10 and 14, respectively.
