CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The first full weekend of America East volleyball is in the books and already every team has at-least one loss. After three matches, Albany, Providence, Stony Brook, New Hampshire and UMBC are all 2-1 and tied for first in the conference. Here are the recaps from the weekend:
Sunday, October 6
New Hampshire 3 (8-11, 2-1), at UMBC 1 (11-7, 2-1)

- Morgan Thatcher recorded her 1,000th career kill and finished with nine with a four-set win over UMBC.
- The teams hit pretty evenly, with New Hampshire holding a slight edge at .178 to UMBC's .172 hitting percentage.
- Tori Forrest led the Wildcats with 18 kills and 14 digs, while Sherelle Walker led the Retrievers with 15 kills.
at Hartford 3 (7-12, 1-2), Binghamton 0 (3-13, 1-2)

- Stony Brook had 38 team digs and five blocks.
Saturday, October 5

- Kayla Fitzgerald had 18 kills and 10 digs to lead Providence to its first win in program history over Albany.
- The Friars held Albany to a .122 hitting percentage with 8.5 blocks and 65 digs. Lindsay Witt had 3.5 blocks while Michelle Cruz had a match-high 21 digs.
- Tatum Jungsten led Albany with 10 kills.
Friday, October 4
Binghamton 3, at Providence 1

- Grace Vickers recorded a career high 17 kills on 25 swings for a .640 hitting percentage to lead Binghamton to a four-set win over Providence
- The Bearcats played solid defense with 62 digs and nine blocks to hold the Friars to a .154 hitting percentage. Xiomara Ortiz had a match-high 20 digs while Vickers led the team with 2.5 blocks.
- Providence won the first set, 27-25 before losing the next three. Freshman Mackenzie Ziegler had a team-high 15 kills with six digs.
Albany 3, at Hartford 1

- Albany improved to 2-0 in a hard-fought match at Hartford, as all four sets were decided by five points in fewer.
- The Great Danes out-hit the Hawks, .240 to .141 on the night, mostly due to Albany's 90 defensive digs and 13 blocks.
- Samantha Brostrom had a double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs, while Mikala McCauley also added a double-double with 38 assists and 13 digs.
- Hartford was led by Kirton Dionna's 15 kills and 15 digs.

- Stony Brook gutted out a five-set win over New Hampshire in the team's home-opener on Friday night in what was a very evenly matched contest.
- New Hampshire out-hit the Seawolves .288 to .202 in the contest, but Stony Brook hit a blistering .417 (11 kills on 24 swings) in the decisive fifth set.
- Melissa Rigo led Stony Brook with 18 kills and 10 digs, as she was one of three Seawolves to notch a double-double. Laura Hathaway had a match-high 26 digs.
- New Hampshire had four players with double-digit kills, led by Morgan Thatcher's 14 kills and .333 hitting percentage.
