- The Hawks made their first-ever postseason appearance last season, appearing in the CIT.
- Head coach John Gallagher, who enters his fourth season as Hartford's head coach, received a contract extension through the 2017-18 season over the summer.
- Gallagher's squad returns 10 letterswinners from last year, including nine of its top 10 scorers and 90.2 percent of its scoring output.
- Junior forward Mark Nwakamma is one of America East's top players as he's just one of two returnees who earned first-team all-conference honors last year.
- A preseason All-America East choice, Nwakamma ranked fifth among league leaders in scoring last year (14.7 ppg) and was even better against league foes, scoring a league-best 16.5 points per game in conference play and shooting 50.2 percent from the field.
