CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - America East men's soccer play crossed the midway point on Saturday as three teams picked up wins, including No. 8 UMBC, which vaulted into first place in the league standings with three games left to play.

Saturday, October 19

at #8 UMBC 1, New Hampshire 0

  • In a matchup of unbeaten teams in America East play, No. 8 UMBC (12-1-1, 3-0-1, 10 pts AE) edged New Hampshire (9-4-0, 3-1-0, 9 pts AE) Saturday in Baltimore.

  • Morais scored in the 11th and 53rd minutes to stake the River Hawks to a 3-0 lead.
  • Stony Brook pulled to within one on scores by Kofi Osei-Tutu ('67) and Favio Sbarra ('81) but UML goalkeeper Chris Maierle made one of his four stops in the final minutes to preserve the win.

at Hartford 0, Binghamton 0
Box Score

  • Hartford (8-3-3, 1-2-1, 4 pts AE) and Binghamton (3-7-4, 1-1-2, 5 pts AE) played to scoreless tie in Hartford Saturday.
  • The Hawks outshot the Bearcats, 20-8, but could only put three shots on Stefan Frantellizzi, who stopped each shot, to record the shutout. 
  • David MacKinnon made two saves to record his sixth shutout of the season.
