CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – America East women’s swimming and diving teams kicked off their seasons this past weekend. Here’s a look at the first awards for the 2013-14 season:
Swimmer of the Week
Jenna Bull, Sr., New Hampshire
Woodstock, New Brunswick
- Collected two first-place wins against Boston College.
- Won the 50-yard freestyle (24.58) and 100-yard freestyle, while placing second in the 200-yard IM (2:06:02).
- Bull was part of a third-place 200-yard medley relay, clocking in at 152.15.
- Currently ranks 26th (200-yard IM), 93rd (100-yard free) and 143rd (50-yard free) among Division I swimmers in the most recent CollegeSwimming.com times.
Diver of the Week
Nicole Zahka, Jr., New Hampshire
Medway, Mass.
- Finished fourth in the one-meter dive (189.60) and second in the three-meter dive (203.02).
- Helped the Wildcats to a season-opening road-victory of 217-140 over Boston College.
Around the League
- Vermont’s Christa Weaver set pool records in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, and was also part of the relay team that set a new pool record in the 200 freestyle relay.
- UMBC’s Klara Pavelkova swept the backstroke events to help the Retrievers defeat Rider on the road.
