CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Several America East cross country teams raced at the NEICAAA Championships, better known as the New England’s, in Boston this past weekend. This week’s top cross country student-athletes are recognized for their performances in the NEICAAA Championship meet.
Men’s Performer of the Week
Kelton Cullenberg, Sr., Maine
Chesterville, Maine
- Placed fourth overall in a field of over 275 racers.
- Recorded his season-best 8k time with a 24:27 mark.
- Lifted Maine to a sixth-place team finish out of 35 programs.
- The NEICAAA marks Cullenberg’s third-straight meet in which he tallied the team’s best finish coupled with an individual top-five finish.
Around the League
- UNH’s Gagnon finished 17th in the NEICAAA Championship with an 8k time of 25:06.
- Vermont’s Aaron Szotka, UMass Lowell’s Omar Abdi and Hartford’s Andrew Dwyer all participated in the NEICAAA with times under 25:40 to finish 51st, 53rd and 81st, respectively.
Women’s Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, Fr., New Hampshire
Montgomery, Vt.
- Finished third overall in a field of 283 runners.
- Led the Wildcats and outshined all other America East runners at the competition as she finished the course with a time of 17:33, a pace of 5:39/mile.
- Purrier helped the Wildcats top 19 other cross country programs enroute to earning the title of New England Champions.
Around the League
- Vermont’s Yolanda Ngarambe finished in the top-10 for women with a ninth-place 5k mark of 17:42.
- Hartford’s Megan Barry posted her season-best 5k time of 17:58 for a 14th place finish.
- UMass Lowell’s Jackie Solimine finished the 5k in 19:00 flat to finish 90th of 283 runners.
