CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Another full slate of America East women's
basketball fills Saturday, including two televised games.
Coming off an important win against Boston University on Wednesday,
Albany (15-3, 6-0) puts its unbeaten conference record on the line against Vermont
(7-12, 4-2) in a game that will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3 and on WatchESPN
via your mobile device at 5 p.m. from SEFCU Arena in Albany.
The Great Danes continue to lead the conference in almost every
category, including scoring offense, scoring defense, field goal percentage, rebounding,
assists and steals. Vermont has played well during the conference portion of
its schedule, beating Maine last time out. The Catamounts have used a balanced
attack, relying heavily on its bench production. Annie Wheeler came off the bench
to lead the Catamounts against Maine with 14 points.
Also being televised locally is Binghamton (3-16, 2-4) hosting New
Hampshire (6-12, 1-5) at 4:30 p.m. on Time Warner Cable at the Events Center. The
Bearcats overcame a 14-point second half deficit to beat Maine on Sunday for
their second conference win. The Wildcats have had several close losses,
including 63-56 at Hartford on Wednesday night. Kaylee Kirkpatrick led the
Wildcats in that game with a career-high 19 points.
Two other games tipoff at 2 p.m. including Boston U. (16-4, 6-1) at
UMBC (6-13, 2-4) and Stony Brook (11-8, 3-3) at Maine (1-18, 0-6). The Terriers
had their 13-game winning streak snapped against Albany on Wednesday, while
UMBC is looking to build on its 11-point win over Stony Brook. The Seawolves
meanwhile continue a road swing that took them from the team furthest south in
the conference (UMBC) to the team furthest north in the conference (Maine). The
Black Bears are in search of their first conference win and have been riding
the excellent play of Liz Wood, who has recorded career-highs in points in each
of her last three games.
