BATON ROUGE, La. -- After rain postponed the 12th inning of Friday's Super Regional game one at Alex Box Stadium, Stony Brook dropped the conclusion 5-4 in the bottom half of the frame Saturday morning. LSU's Tyler Moore scored the game-winning run from second base to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series with a trip to the College World Series in Omaha on the line.

Game two will begin at 11:05 a.m. CT / 12:05 p.m. ET live on ESPN2 and ESPN3. Official time of game one was 4:11.

The teams entered the day tied at 4-4. After LSU right-handed pitcher Kevin Gausman retired the Seawolves in the top of the inning, Tyler Moore led off the bottom of the frame with a bloop single to shallow center field. He advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by leadoff batter Austin Nola before Stony Brook's Frankie Vanderka intentionally walked JaCoby Jones. Mason Katz then placed a liner into left field on the first pitch he saw to score Moore.

The Stony Brook University baseball team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over seventh-seeded LSU at Alex Box Stadium in the Seawolves' first NCAA Super Regionals appearance, however rain dampened an entertaining, extra-inning affair.

The Seawolves left the bases loaded in the first inning, but put two on the scoreboard in the top of the second on Sal Intagliata's second home run of the season.

LSU starter Aaron Nola went six innings giving up the two earned runs and nine hits, and striking out six. He finished with 109 pitches.

The game remained 2-0 until LSU tacked an unearned run on in the bottom of the seventh off of starter Brandon McNitt, who went 7.0 complete innings giving up just three hits, while striking out three and walking two.

James Campbell relieved McNitt after the starter gave up a base hit to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning, and went 3.0 innings for the Seawolves.

Tigers' second baseman JaCoby Jones provided some drama to the game in the bottom of the ninth inning after sending a 3-2 pitch out of the park for a solo home run which knotted the game up at 2-all and sent the game into the 10th inning.

Both teams traded single runs in each the 10th and 11th innings. Pinch hitter Steven Goldstein belted a solo home run in the top of the 10th, but LSU responded with a one-run four-bagger of its own in the bottom half of the inning.

In the 11th inning, Travis Jankowski, who went 3-for-6 for the afternoon, came home on a Kevin Krause sacrifice fly to give Stony Brook its third lead of the game.

Again, LSU rallied to tie the score in the bottom half of the frame when pinch hitter Mason Katz blasted the game's fifth homer to account for the 4-4 score. Stony Brook reliever Jasvir Rakkar pitched the 11th inning for the visitors.

Severe weather rolled in before the 12th inning began. A 2:34 rain delay followed before NCAA officials officially postponed the game until Saturday.

"Field conditions, as well as weather, were factors in our decision. We had lightening six and eight miles away. We talked about trying to get the game in tonight, but then we had another weather front behind us," said NCAA Tournament representative Wilbert Ellis.
