Three Baseball Stars Tabbed Academic All-District

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Three America East baseball stars, including a pair of Seawolves, have been placed on the Capital One Academic All-District Team presented by CoSIDA. Stony Brook University's Tyler Johnson and Brandon McNitt make up the two pitchers on the team, while University of Hartford third baseman Simon Kudernatsch is one of four infielders. All three are now eligible for the Academic All-America Team to be announced later this month.

Johnson (7-1, 1.52 ERA), a senior with a 3.71 GPA in history, leads the America East in ERA and wins and ranks in the top 20 in the nation in ERA. This is the second consecutive season he has been named to the District I first team.

McNitt (6-2, 2.13 ERA), a sophomore with a 3.47 in biochemistry, is second in the America East, to Johnson, in ERA and is holding opponents to a .231 batting average. He is also second in wins and ranks in the top 50 in the country in ERA.

Kudernatsch is a senior who carries a 3.72 in biomedical engineering. He leads the team with a .346 batting average. He has a team-best 55 hits in 156 at bats, leads with 36 RBI and has hit three triples and three home runs. He has also scored a team-best 30 runs.
