STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The fourth-seeded University of Maine baseball team will get another crack at top-seeded Stony Brook Friday afternoon after advancing to the title game with a 5-1 win over third-seeded Binghamton earlier in the day at the Seawolves' Joe Nathan Field.

The Seawolves defeated the Black Bears 14-6 in Wednesday afternoon's tournament opener after sweeping Maine in a four-game set last weekend.

With a win the Seawolves would win the 2012 America East Baseball Championship and earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Maine would need to win this afternoon as well as a rematch tomorrow in the double-elimination tournament.

The Black Bears are the defending champions after winning three straight as the two seed last year.

The Seawolves are trying to become just the second two seed in the last 10 years, and first since Binghamton in 2009, to win the tournament and the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Follow Friday's action on Championship Central with live coverage links, recaps, highlights and more.
