CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- A pair of Stony Brook Seawolves capture the week two baseball awards, while University at Albany freshman Joey Tracy
(Elmont, N.Y./St.
Mary’s) becomes the second straight Great Dane to earn the America East Rookie of the Week nod. Second baseman Maxx Tissenbaum (Toronto, Ontario/York Mills Collegiate) takes home the Player of the Week award and teammate Brandon McNitt (Chino Hills, Calif./Bishop Amat) reels in the Pitcher of the Week honor.
Tissenbaum, a sophomore, hit .545 in the weekend series against East Carolina, all one-run losses. He also reached base at a .583 clip for the series. Tissenbaum started the series with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate in a 1-0 game. He followed that up with a 2-for-3 day while also drawing a walk. Tissenbaum finished the weekend going 2-for-4 and scoring a run in a 4-3 loss.
McNitt, the 2011 America East Rookie of the Year, allowed just one earned run in a complete game effort on Saturday. The sophomore got tagged for the 2-1 loss, but allowed just four hits in his 8.0 innings and struck out four.
Tracy batted .455 last week in three games, tops in the league for the week only behind Tissenbaum. Starting all three games at third base, he went 5-for-11 with a double and two RBIs. Tracy went 2-for-4 in the weekend opener against Wofford, and followed that up with an RBI-double on Saturday against USC Upstate. In the finale against Gardner Webb, he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and was 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts. Tracy also finished the week with a .545 slugging percentage and a .875 fielding percentage.

Albany (0-6, 0-0 AE) dropped
three games in a swing through the Carolina's over the weekend... The Great
Danes were led by freshman Joey Tracy (Elmont, N.Y./Saint Mary's), who hit .455
in three starts at third base, going 5-for-11 with a double and two RBI, and
also going 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts... Sophomore Josh Nethaway (Fonda,
N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville) hit .400 in two games started... Senior Pete DiResta
(Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) recorded three hits, including his first triple of the
season, and scored one run for the Great Danes... Senior lefty Greg Lutton (New
Haven, Vt./Mt. Abraham) made two appearances in relief for the Great Danes,
seeing five and two thirds innings of action... Lutton allowed just one earned
run and one walk, while striking out five, the staff high for the weekend... Albany will return to non-conference action this week, visiting Fordham on
Wednesday before playing a weekend series at NY Tech.
Binghamton (0-3, 0-0 AE) had a three-game series at Norfolk State rained out over the weekend. The Bearcats return to action at Arkansas for a three-game set beginning Friday.
Hartford
(0-6, 0-0 AE) continued the 2012 season with three games at VMI. In a doubleheader on Saturday, the Hawks fell 6-4 and 6-5 before closing out the weekend with a 9-7 loss on Sunday. James Alfonso and Chris Suchy each batted a team-high .444 with a homerun over the weekend. Austin Barnes made two appearances on the mound in relief, holding opponents to a .176 batting average and allowing two earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. The
Hawks return to the New England for a mid-week home opener against
in-state rival Central Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon. Hartford and
the Blue Devils are scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch at Fiondella
Field on the West Hartford campus.
Maine (3-5, 0-0 AE) won a
pair of games at Florida A&M, before dropping three straight at #8 Florida
State... Six of Maine's eight games this season have been played against teams
in the top 20 in the nation... Maine scored a season-high 17 runs on Tuesday at
Florida A&M... D.J. Voisine (Plainville, Conn.) made his first career start
against Florida A&M on the mound... Mike Connolly (Middleborough, Mass.)
relieved Voisine in the game and struck out a career-high eight... Alex Calbick
(Burnaby, British Columbia) had four RBI in the game... Rookie Manny Pupo
(Boynton Beach, Fla.) made his made his first collegiate start the next day at
Florida State... Michael Fransoso (Portsmouth, N.H), who leads the team with a
five-game hitting streak, has reached base in all eight games this season...
Maine continues its two-week trip to the Sunshine State with a game at Stetson
on Tuesday night... The Black Bears then play four neutral site games in a
tournament at Winter Haven.
In a weekend series with Army, UMBC (1-6, 0-0 AE) picked up its
first win of the year, and the first win under first-year head coach Bob Mumma...
In Sunday's series finale, the Retrievers held on to stop a Knight's ninth-inning
rally, to take the game 10-8... Freshmen Ian Glassman (Basking Ridge, N.J./Rutgers Prep) and Anthony Gatto (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) combined to go 5-for-10 on
Sunday against the Black Knights, scoring four runs... Seniors Max Himmelstein (Mooretown, N.J./Moorestown) and Curtis Schickner (East Windsor, N.J./Lawrenceville Prep) combined for five hits, while
driving in three runs and scoring two against the Black Knights on Sunday... Gatto finished with a team-high .444 average
(4-for-9) in the series, while Himmelstein hit UMBC's only homerun over the
weekend... The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday to take on local rival Towson...
Then UMBC hosts Navy on Friday before traveling to Annapolis to take on the
Midshipmen on Saturday and Sunday.
The Seawolves (4-3, 0-0 AE) lost
three one run games at East Carolina over the weekend... The Stony Brook
pitching staff gave up just four earned runs in the three-game set... SBU lost
1-0 on Friday, 2-1 on Saturday and 4-3 on Sunday... Senior Tyler Johnson
(Chatsworth, Calif.) went the distance on Friday, allowing just one earned in
8.0 innings of work. He gave up just six hits and walked two... Sophomore
Brandon McNitt (Chino Hills, Calif.) then pitched on a complete game on
Saturday, giving up just one earned run on four hits in 8.0 innings... Junior
Jasvir Rakkar (Brampton, Ontario) pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief on
