CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- A Great Dane and two Terriers capture America East weekly awards for the week ending March 18 after No. 13 Albany and Boston U. combined to go 4-0. Albany senior attacker Amanda Pollock (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) more than doubled her season offensive output in two games last week to pick up the Player of the Week award. Boston U. teammates Christina Sheridan (Ellicott City, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Mallory Collins (Boston, Mass./Thayer Academy/Loomis Chaffee) earn Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, after the Terriers picked up two wins in California last week.
Pollock provided an offensive punch in two Albany wins last week which extended the Great Danes' win streak to five. The senior recorded a career game in Wednesday's victory over No. 14/12 Boston College with five goals, and racked up four more goals against Longwood on Saturday.
Pollock recorded 14 shots for the week, with 12 of them on net (.857 SOG percentage) and nine of them good for goals.
Sheridan recorded two wins in goal for the Terriers last week and led the squad with 10 cumulative ground balls. She made 15 saves with a .429 save percentage on last week's West Coast swing. At California, Sheridan made eight stops as the Bears put 21 shots on net. The sophomore goalkeeper made another seven saves on 14 shots in an 18-9 win at Saint Mary's (Calif.).
Collins extended her goal-scoring streak to seven games, having scored multiple goals in six of her first seven career collegiate games. In two wins last week, the rookie finished with seven points on six goals and an assist. She notched a hat trick each against Cal and Saint Mary's, adding an assist against the Bears and a ground ball against the Gaels.
Collins is tied for third in America East with 3.14 goals per game.
Conference play gets underway on Saturday, March 24. Albany and UMBC will meet in Baltimore at noon for a conference title game rematch. Binghamton travels to face New Hampshire at 1 p.m., while Vermont and Boston U. meet up at Nickerson Field in Boston, also at 1 p.m. Stony Brook, who has the first week bye, hosts Marist on Saturday afternoon.

#13 Albany (6-1, 0-0 AE) recorded two victories over the week, including a 16-12 win against then-ranked No. 14/12 Boston College. The Great Danes were led by Amanda Pollock (Syracuse, N.Y./Liverpool) with her career-best five-goal performance. Jess Antelmi (Bridgeport, N.Y./Chittenango) continued her hot-streak with three goals and two assists against BC and recorded one goal and three assists against Longwood... Against Longwood, Albany controlled nearly every category en route to a 20-5 victory, the biggest scoring margin on the season. Mel Rorie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) recorded her 100th career point on her second of four goals against Longwood. The senior now has 86 goals and 14 assists in 57 games played with Albany. Pollock and Rachael Burek (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) each tabbed four goals on the Lancers... The Great Danes host Massachusetts then open up conference play at UMBC next weekend.
Binghamton (2-4, 0-0 AE) dropped both its contests last week, coming up short against La Salle 14-12 at home after falling at Lehigh 17-10 earlier in the week... In both match ups the Bearcats gave up pivotal runs that allowed their counterparts to take control of the game... Against Lehigh, a 7-0 run by the Mountain Hawks to begin the second half helped the hosts cruise to the victory... Seniors Brittany Stufano (Garden City, NY/Garden City) and Lis Zuern (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) each netted hat tricks for the Bearcats... After racing out to a 3-0 lead in the first 2:27, Binghamton allowed La Salle to go on an 8-0 run over the next ten minutes of play which gave the Explorers enough of a cushion to hold off a late rally by the Bearcats... Junior midfielder Katherine Hunsberger (Cortland, NY/Cortland) led Binghamton with a career-high four goals while also recording four ground balls... Binghamton hosts Colgate on Wednesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. in its final tuneup before its conference opener against New Hampshire on Saturday, March 24 in Durham.
Boston U. (3-4, 0-0 AE) has won two straight games for the first time all season and is now 3-3 on the road... Senior Catie Tilton set a new single-game school record with nine assists against Saint Mary's. The previous record was seven, which was set most recently by Xan Weitzel (April 24, 2010)... Junior Danielle Etrasco led the Terriers with nine goals over two games this week and now leads the team with 26... Boston U. has outscored its opponents 50-31 in the second half this season... Junior Kristen Mogavero scored a season-high three goals at Cal before eclipsing that mark with five at Saint Mary's... Mogavero (8 goals) and senior Hannah Frey (3 goals) scored on every shot they took over the two-game span.
UMBC (3-5, 0-0 AE) defeated Colgate 13-11 at UMBC Stadium on Wed., March 14... Sophomore attacker Taelar Errington (Valley Lee, Md./Leonardtown) scored a career-best three goals and staked UMBC to an early lead as the Retrievers held off Colgate down the stretch... Junior midfielder Lindsay Cox (High Bridge, N.J./Voorhees) led all Retriever scorers with three goals and one assist, while four other Retrievers scored multiple points in the game... Cox scored all three of her goals on free-position attempts (3/3) vs. Colgate and now has a team-high 22 goals on the season... The Retrievers only committed five turnovers vs. the Raiders... Drexel’s Lindsey Kovar scored on a free position shot with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, as the host Dragons rallied to nip UMBC 9-8 at Vidas Field... UMBC freshman attacker Abby Wilson (Bel Air, Md./Fallston) led all scorers with three goals, while Cox added a pair... The Retrievers had a 7-5 lead at the break, but were outshot, 16-5, in the second half, and despite seven saves by freshman goalkeeper Anna Barnett (Midland, Texas/Midland) over the final 30 minutes, fell for the second time in 2012 when leading at halftime... The Retrievers open America East play by hosting the defending league champion Albany Great Danes at noon on March 24... Albany took a 6-5 lead in the series after two wins over UMBC last season... The last four regular season clashes have all been decided by three goals or fewer.
UNH (1-5, 0-0 AE) ended a four-game losing streak with a 19-7 victory at Fresno State on March 14 and then lost 8-3 at home to Fairfield on March 18… The 19 goals marked the highest total by the Wildcats since April 2009 and was followed by the team’s lowest output since March 2010… The ‘Cats also recorded season highs in both assists (nine) and shots (37) at Fresno State while committing a season-low six turnovers… UNH recorded a 24-14 shot advantage in the loss to the Stags; the 14 shots marked the fewest allowed by the ‘Cats this season… Senior midfielder and captain Ilana Cohen (Andover, Mass./Andover) recorded her 50th career goal with the first of her two goals at Fresno State… Junior attack Jenny Simpson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) tallied her 50th career goal with the first of her four tallies at FSU… Junior midfielder and captain Chelsea Cyester (Parker, Colo./Chaparral) recorded career highs in both goals (five) and points (six) at Fresno State… Senior midfielder and captain Kate Keagins (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) has scored a goal in all six games… In her first game this season, senior goalkeeper Kate Gunts (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) stopped seven shots at Fresno State to improve to 18-8 in her career… UNH begins America East conference play March 24 against Binghamton who the Wildcats are 10-0 against all-time.
Stony Brook (5-2, 0-0 AE) played its first-ever game as a nationally ranked team last Wednesday, losing to No. 6/5 Florida in Gainesville 17-4... The Seawolves entered the Inside Lacrosse deBeer Media Poll at No. 19 last week and are also receiving votes in the most recent IWLCA Coaches Poll... The game against Florida was Stony Brook's third consecutive match against a nationally ranked opponent... Junior Demmianne Cook (Nesconset, N.Y.) scored two goals in the loss to increase her team-leading total to 29 on the season. She also leads the team in ground balls (17) and is second in draw controls (15)... Junior Claire Petersen (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshman Amber Kupres (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) also scored goals for the Seawolves... Petersen is second on the team in points (28) and third in goals (12)... Kupres is fourth on the team in goals (10)... Stony Brook will play twice this week, heading to Maryland to face the nationally ranked Terrapins on Tuesday and then hosting Marist on Saturday.
Vermont moved to 5-2 on the season after a 1-1 week... The Catamounts dropped a 13-9 decision at No. 10 Dartmouth, while earning a 14-11 win at Columbia... Samantha Stern (Cherry Hill, N.J.) led UVM in scoring on the week with a hat trick and five assists... Sydney Mas (Bedford, N.Y./St. George's (R.I.)) added seven points on six goals and also collected eight draws... Allison Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) also netted six goals, four against Columbia, and recorded seven ground balls... Head coach Jen Johnson enters the week one win shy of 50 victories... The Catamounts close out a four-game road swing at Quinnipiac on Wednesday (March 21) and begin America East action at Boston U on Saturday (March 24).
