CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Every America East indoor track and field team competed this weekend and five student-athletes turned in weekly award-winning performances.

Stony Brook’s Eric Speakman (Napier, New Zealand) and Binghamton’s Erik Van Ingen (Cortland, N.Y./Marathon) pick up Co-Male Track Performer of the Week honors while New Hampshire’s Brice Paey (Milton, N.H./St. Thomas) grabs his fourth Male Field Performer of the Week award this season. For the women, Stony Brook’s Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) collects her third Female Track Performer of the Week nod and Maine’s Jesse Labreck (Oakland, Maine/ Messalonskee) adds her third Female Field Performer of the Week accolade.

Speakman recorded the Stony Brook men’s lone win at the Giegengack Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore won the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:24.86, the top time in the conference so far this season.

Van Ingen captured the 800 meter run at the Penn State Sykes and Sabock Challenge Cup in a time of 1:49.70. The time smashed his previous school record, which he set back in 2009 and qualified him for the IC4A Championship. Van Ingen will head to the Millrose Games next weekend to compete in the Wanamaker Mile.

Paey won the shot put for the fifth straight meet at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic. He topped a field of 25 with a personal-best toss of 60’.25”, breaking his own school record in the event. Paey has already reached the NCAA provisional mark for automatic qualification in the event.

Van Dalen won the 1,000 in 2:42.53 at the Giegengack Invitational, which is the fastest time in the nation this season. Her time, a school record by nearly five seconds, was also the seventh fastest time in collegiate indoor track and field history.

Labreck continued to dominate in the field events claiming three in the field and one on the track against Holy Cross. She took first in the high jump (5’7”), long jump (18’8”), triple jump (35’6.5”) and in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.88. Her time in the hurdles easily qualifies her for the ECAC Championship.

Twelve postseason qualifying marks highlighted Albany’s indoor track and field performances at the the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. For the men, Paul Lagno (Salt Point, N.Y./Millbrook) bettered his own program record in the mile run with a time of 4:01.86, which took second at the meet. Peter Rowell (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville/Manhattan) registered two qualifying marks over the weekend in the 500m (1:04.89 ) and the 800m  (1:52.22). The men finished tied for 18th out of 25 scoring teams. On the women’s side, Albanys’ 4x200 relay team of Jillian Haynes (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), Nyree Richardson (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont), Alli Rogers (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) and Kamilah Williams (Portchester, N.Y./White Plains) posted a school record time of 1:41.49. Brianne Bellon (Greenfield, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) ran the 1,000m in 2:54.18 for an ECAC qualifying nod. Competition for both the men’s and women’s squads will resume Feb. 11 at the Millrose Collegiate Invitational and Millrose Games.

Erik van Ingen captured the men’s 800m run, highlighting the Binghamton track and field teams’ performance at the Penn State Challenge Cup on Saturday. Van Ingen, clocked a first-place time of 1:49.70 smashing his own school record of 1:51.89. The senior met the IC4A qualifying standard. Elsewhere on the men’s side, Vasili Papastrat (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) was second overall in the 5,000m run with a time of 14:57. For the women, Rachel Miura (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) was fifth in the 5,000 (17:30) while Lindsey Raulli (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North) was seventh in the 3,000 (10:07). The Bearcats head to Boston for their next meet, the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.

Boston University competed in the Battle of Beantown over the weekend. The women took second and the men finished fourth. Shelby Walton (Danbury, Conn./Danbury), who has won every race she has run this season, matched the meet record in the 200m dash with a time of 24.86. She also won the 60m dash with a season-best time of 7.63. Katie Matthews (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill)) also extended her win streak, as she captured the one-mile run with a time of 4:46.95, qualifying her for the ECAC Championship. Rosa Moriello (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) finished second in the mile with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:49.63. In the field, Allison Barwise (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) captured the long jump with a leap of 5.76 after she jumped 1.73m in the high jump. Both marks met qualifying standards for the ECAC Championship. On the men’s side, Joel Senick (Saskatoon, Sask./Holy Cross) won the 400m dash in 48.75, an IC4A qualifying time. Robert Gibson (Brookline, Mass./Brookline) ran a 4:.08.02 mile, good for second place and a personal best. Sam Wuest (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) claimed the high jump with a mark of 1.98m. Next up for the Terriers is the Valentine Invitational on Feb. 10-11 at the Boston U. Track and Tennis Center.

Hartford competed at the Springfield College Invitational with the women finishing third overall and the men fourth. Senior Anderson Emerole (Jamaica, N.Y./Manhattan Center for Math and Sciences) picked up wins in both the 200m and 400m dashes. Emerole was one of three Hawks to score points in the 200, crossing first in a time of 22.91 seconds. The senior’s time of 50.59 paced the field in the 400. Emerole also led the Hawks to a win in the 4x200 relay which posted a time of 1:34.18. Classmate Andrew Chalmers (Ashland, N.H./Plymouth Regional) took home third place in the 800m, finishing the race in 1:59.84. For the Hawk women, Tiffany Harrison (Bloomfield, Conn./Bloomfield) had a record-setting day. She paced the Hawks in the 400m dash, picking up first place with a time of 59.26. The time broke the facility record and also led a trio of Hawks in the top-10 in the event. She also picked up a second-place finish in the 200m dash in 27.05. Sophomore Megan Barry (South Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis Yarmouth Regional) set a facility record, winning the 5,000m run in a time of 18:07.03. Barry’s time was also a personal. Jennifer Flores (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) led wire-to-wire to take first place in the 1,000m. Freshman Sam Crisafulli (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) set a school record in the 600m with a time of 1:39.20. In the field, Alisha Beeman (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) picked up a win in the high jump clearing 1.60 meters and also finished third in the triple jump. The Hawks are next in action in Boston at the Valentine Invitational.

Trevor England (Auburn, Maine) and Jesse Labreck led the Maine track and field teams against Holy Cross on Saturday. England won the triple jump in an IC4A-qualifying mark of 47’3” and he also won the long jump with a distance of 22’2.50”. On the track for the Maine men, Jake Leithiser (Old Town, Maine/Old Town) took first in the 400 (50.08) and added a win in the high jump (6’.75”). The Black Bears won the meet 116.50-63.50. Labreck continued her dominance, winning four total events for the Maine women. She took the top spot in the high jump (5’7”), long jump (18’8”), triple jump (35’6.5”) and in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.88. Jillian O’Brien (Buffalo, N.Y.) had an ECAC-qualifying performance in the 55m dash clocking in at 7.15 seconds. Next up for Maine is the Valentine Invitational at Boston U. on Feb. 10.

The UMBC track and field teams competed in New York City for the second time the season taking part in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. For the men, senior Aaron Brooks (Upper Marlboro, Md./DeMatha) broke his own school record in the shot put with a toss of 16.13m. Junior Cameron McDearmon (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) continued his string of strong performances setting a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 17.65m. On the women’s side, Mercedes Jackson (Huntington, Md./Huntington) picked up another win, this time in the 200m dash (24.46), which places her second on the all-time list at UMBC. Kirsten Jones (Brentwood, Tenn./M.L.K Magnet) led off for both the 4x200 (1:41.38) and 4x400 (3:49.46) relays for the Retrievers. Both relay teams set school records. The Retrievers head back to New York City for next weekend’s Rider/Lafayette Invitational.

New Hampshire took part in the non-scoring Dartmouth Indoor Classic over the weekend. For the men, Brice Paey won the shot put for the fifth straight time this season, as he topped a field of 25 with a personal-best toss of 60’0.25”, breaking his own school record. Cameron Lyle (Plaistow, N.H.) won the weight throw with an IC4A-qualifying toss of 57’3”. Also winning in the field for the Wildcats was Max Hoddwells (Wayne, Maine) who captured the triple jump with a mark of 44’9”. D’mahl McFadden (Penacook, N.H.) took first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.35. For the women, Allison Brehm (Pembroke, N.H./Pembroke) had a hand in three winning efforts on the day. She picked up a pair of individual victories in the 60m (7.87) and 200m (26.66) dashes while also running the anchor leg of the winning 4x200 relay team (1:47.02). In the field, Rosemary Read (West Greenwich, R.I.) earned a second-place finish in the weight throw with a personal-best and ECAC qualifying toss of 54’0.25”. The Wildcats return to action when they host Vermont at the Paul Sweet Oval on Feb. 11.

Lucy Van Dalen led Stony Brook’s track and field teams at the Giegengack Invitational hosted by Yale University. Van Dalen ran the fastest 1,000 in the country this season (2:42.53), which is a school record by nearly five seconds and a meet record by nearly six seconds. Olivia Burne (Palmerston North, New Zealand) also posted a win, taking first in the mile (4:47.32). Eric Speakman recorded the men’s team’s lone win, finishing first in the 1,000 (2:24.86), missing the school record by .18 seconds. Shamell Forbes (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 1,000 (2:29.50). Van Dalen and the men’s 4x400 relay team will compete at the Millrose Games next weekend while another group of Seawolves will be at Boston U.’s Valentine Invitational.

Vermont competed at two events over the weekend. On Friday, the Catamounts participated in the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City before heading the Dartmouth Indoor Classic on Saturday. On Friday, Morgan Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Indian Hill) broke the indoor school record by more than 30 seconds in the 5,000-meter run with her time of 16:33.64. She earned a fifth-place finish, just .01 seconds behind the fourth-place finisher. Brittany St. Clair (Whitehall, N.Y./Whitehall) easily won the high jump at Dartmouth posting a height of 1.68 meters. For the men, Aaron Szotka (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) came in 14th in the 3,000-meter run among Eastern runners on Friday with a time of 8:49.41. At Dartmouth, Chris Lemieux (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial) easily captured the title in the high jump clearing a height of 1.98 meters.
