Road Teams Go 3-1 Saturday in Men's Basketball Action

Road teams had a big day on Saturday as the visitors went 3-1 in America East men's basketball, including Stony Brook, which dealt Albany its first home loss of the year, and maintained its hold on sole possession on first place in the conference standings. Maine and Boston U. also earned road victories while Vermont won at home.

Stony Brook (15-7, 10-1 AE) picked up its sixth straight win and 12th in its last 13 games with a 76-69 win over Albany (15-10, 7-4 AE). The Seawolves shot 53 percent from the field including a blistering 59 percent in the second half. The loss snapped Albany's three-game win streak and its 12-game run at SEFCU Arena. Dave Coley led four Seawolves in double figures with 17 points while Gerardo Suero had 21 for the Great Danes.

UMBC (3-19, 2-8 AE)  overcame a 10-point second-half deficit at to force overtime against Maine (11-10, 5-5 AE) but Raheem Singleton knocked down two free throws with seven seconds left in the extra session to give the Black Bears a 77-76 win, their third straight. Alasdair Fraser had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds for Maine, while Chase Plummer poured in a game-high 24 for the Retrievers.

Boston U. (12-13, 8-3 AE) snapped its mini two-game losing skid with a 68-53 win at Binghamton (0-23, 0-11 AE). The Terriers shot 50 percent from the floor, including 58 percent after halftime. Darryl Partin and Matt Griffin each had 13 points for the Terriers, while Robert Mansell and Ben Dickinson each had 13 for the Bearcats.

Vermont (15-10, 9-2 AE) kept pace with Stony Brook by downing Hartford (4-19, 4-7 AE) 82-56. The Catamounts, winners of six straight and nine of their last 10, used a 25-0 first-half run to grow a big lead. Sandro Carissimo tied a season high with 16 points and added a career-high eight rebounds for UVM. Yolonzo Moore II led the Hawks with a career-high 17 points.
