West Hartford, Conn.-- In what will be the first-ever America East women's basketball regular-season conference game televised nationally, Hartford will host UMBC in a Play 4Kay game with a 12 noon tip. The two teams are tied for third in the America East standings entering the game.
Eric Frede will call the action, while Leah Secondo will provide the color analysis for this matchup.
UMBC, the preseason coaches' favorite to win the league this year, won the last matchup with Hartford, the defending America East Tournament Champions. Earlier this year in Baltimore, the Retrievers defeated the Hawks 71-59 on Jan. 16. Senior Erin Brown, the leading scorer in America East, paced the UMBC offense with 24 points.
The last time these two teams met at Chase Arena, site of Sunday's game, the fourth-seeded Hawks knocked top-seeded UMBC out of the 2011 America East Championship during the semifinals.
Hartford is surging coming into the game. The Hawks went 2-5 through the first seven games of the America East conference schedule, but is now rolling on a six-game winning streak. The Retrievers have won three in a row with three games remaining in the regular season.

In the only other game on the schedule Sunday, Vermont hosts Maine looking to avenge an earlier loss up on the Black Bears' home court. Sunday's game can be watched live beginning at 1 p.m. on WCAXtra. In the first meeting, Maine senior Samantha Baranowski scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Black Bears to the 70-60 victory.
In Saturday action, Albany (19-9, 13-2 AE) led wire-to-wire and won 48-41 at Boston U. to get to within half a game of the first-place Terriers (20-7, 13-1 AE). The Great Danes, whose hopes for the number one seed and first-ever regular season championship are still alive, held Boston U. to its lowest offensive output during league play. It snapped the Terriers' 13-game win streak and undefeated mark at home this season.
New Hampshire (14-12, 7-7 AE) also won on the road 63-46 at Stony Brook (4-23, 1-13 AE) on Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves held UNH senior Denise Beliveau to just three points, but junior Morgan Frame finished with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
