CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced the Division I cross country teams and individuals earning All-Academic status. America East cross country student-athletes were no strangers to the lists thanks to their efforts this fall on the course and the classroom.

The Stony Brook women’s squad, in addition to earning All-Academic honors as a team, had two harriers reach All-Academic status as individuals. Hayley Green and Patricia Barry, both seniors for the Seawolves, collect the honors. Green won the America East individual title and then went on to become an All-American by finishing 33rd at the NCAA Championship. Barry finished sixth overall at the conference championship helping the Seawolves capture their fifth straight America East title.

Vermont’s Morgan Powers also earned All-Academic status as an individual while her entire Catamount squad garnered recognition as well.

Both Albany’s and Binghamton’s women’s squads were honored by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic teams.

The Albany men’s squad, which picked up its first conference championship this fall, highlights the America East men’s teams represented in the USTFCCCA All-Academic team lists. Binghamton, Stony Brook and Vermont join the Great Dane men as honorees.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2011.
