Behind a monster second half from Four McGlynn, Vermont took control of the America East men's basketball regular-season race on Sunday. The freshman scored 20 of his career-high 24 points after halftime as the Catamounts outscored Stony Brook, 45-27, in the second stanza en route to a 68-49 victory at Patrick Gym.

The win evens up Vermont (17-10, 11-2 AE) with the Seawolves (17-8, 12-2 AE) in the loss column of the league standings and means the Cats would be the No. 1 seed for the America East Championship with wins in their final three conference games. UVM has the tiebreaker over both Stony Brook and Boston U. due to its season sweep of the Terriers.

The Catamounts, who have won eight in a row and 11 of their last 12, opened the game on a 21-9 run, but Stony Brook, which had won eight in a row coming in, scored 13 of the next 15 points to cut the deficit to 23-22 at the break.

But, Vermont shot 52 percent to Stony Brook's 31 after halftime and used a 13-0 run to break the game open. That spurt was fueled by McGlynn, who had eight of the 13, and ended up shooting 7-of-12 for the game. Matt Glass added 13 for UVM while Dallis Joyner paced Stony Brook with 13 points.

Elsewhere on Sunday, New Hampshire (9-14, 5-8 AE) outscored UMBC (3-22, 2-11 AE) 42-32 in the second half to post to a 66-60 win, its third win in its last four games. Brian Benson tallied his second straight double-double and fifth of his career, scoring 16 points and adding 10 rebounds. Ryan Cook led the Retrievers with 19 points.

Hartford (6-19, 6-7 AE) held off a late charge from Binghamton (0-24, 0-12 AE) to win its sixth conference game, 62-60. The Hawks shot 60 percent halftime to build an 11-point lead with 1:59 to go, but the Bearcats went on a 10-2 run to get within three before Andres Torres knocked down a pair of free throws to seal it. Torres led Hartford with 17 points, while Ben Dickinson paced Binghamton with 18.
