All four home teams held court Saturday afternoon as all nine teams roll closer to the America East Basketball Championship in Hartford beginning on March 1.
Starting at the site of next month's championship, Hartford (16-10, 7-5 AE) won its fifth straight game with a 67-58 victory over Binghamton (12-14, 6-7 AE). Two Hawks reached the 20-point mark led by junior forward Nikkia Smith's game-high 24 points. Junior guard Daphne Elliott drained five three-pointers and finished with 20 points. Hartford also forced 18 Binghamton turnovers and collected 11 steals, led by Smith and Elliott each with four thefts.
Binghamton had four players score in double-figures with senior Orla O'Reilly finishing with a team-high 16 points.
Albany (17-9, 11-2 AE) and Boston U. (19-6, 12-0 AE) have each guaranteed itself a seed no lower than second for the tournament. For the Great Danes, it will be the program's highest seed since joining the America East.
The Great Danes upended Maine (6-19, 3-9 AE) 68-55 in Albany. Ebone Henry scored 25 points to pace all players and grabbed three of the Great Danes' 12 steals.
Samantha Baranowski was the only Black Bear in double-figure scoring with 13 points, while Corinne Wellington pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Terriers earned its 12th straight win by a 56-31 score over Stony Brook (4-22, 1-12 AE). Boston U. forwards Rashidat Agboola (11 points, 15 rebounds) and Caroline Stewart (15 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles and the Terriers outshot the Seawolves 36.4 percent to 24 percent.
New Hampshire (13-11, 6-6 AE) kept pace with the middle of the pack in the standings with a 58-48 win over Vermont (9-17, 3-10 AE). Senior forward Denise Beliveau paced all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-13 field-goal shooting. The Wildcats shot 50 percent in the first half and finished the game shooting 45.1 percent while also holding Vermont to under 30 percent.
