Boston U. Takes On Vermont on ESPN3 Wednesday

BOSTON -- The last two America East champions, Boston University and Vermont, meet Wednesday Agganis with a chance to take over sole possession of second place in the league standings. The game, which will tip at approximately 7 p.m., will be broadcast on ESPN3. Dave Popkin (play-by-play) and Frank Sullivan (analyst) will have the call. WATCH LIVE

Boston U. (11-12, 7-2 AE) and Vermont (13-10, 7-2 AE) come into the game tied for second place in the conference standings, just one game back of Stony Brook for first. Both teams are playing well of late, each having won seven of its last eight. The Terriers have been unbeatable at home against America East foes over the last two years racking up 15 straight home wins. Their last loss came on Feb. 9, 2010 against the Catamounts, who are 6-2 all-time at Agganis Arena. UVM has won 10 of the last 13 series meetings, including an 83-68 win over Boston U. on Jan. 9.

America East is in its first year of a five-year contract with ESPN that will feature conference games exclusively on ESPN3, ESPN’s multi-screen network available through an affiliated internet or video provider online via WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE. Elsewhere on Wednesday, Stony Brook (13-7, 8-1 AE) looks to keep its hold on first place in the league standings when Binghamton (0-21, 0-9 AE) visits Pritchard Gym at 7 p.m. The Seawolves have won 10 of its last 11 overall, including a 60-54 victory over Binghamton on Jan. 9, and 11 straight games at home. The Bearcats have won seven of the last series meetings however.

Albany (14-9, 6-3 AE) looks to stay unbeaten at home when UMBC (3-17, 2-6 AE) comes to SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes are 8-0 at home this year and have won 11 straight there overall. Albany won the first matchup with UMBC on Jan. 9 as Gerardo Suero, Mike Black and Logan Aronhalt each scored 22 points en route to an 89-72 win.

Hartford (4-17, 4-5 AE) tries to reach .500 in conference play when it visits UNH (7-13, 2-7 AE). The Hawks took the first meeting, 56-49, on Jan. 9.
