Five America East men's basketball teams will play matinee games in their final action before taking a week off for Christmas. Highlighting the day will be UMBC traveling to Chicago to take on DePaul in a game that will air on ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
Kicking off the day's action will be Boston University (4-6) hosting Cornell at 1 p.m. The Terriers, winners of four of their last five games, could easily be .500 or better as four of their losses have been by a combed seven points.
At 2 p.m. Vermont (6-4) hosts Fairleigh Dickinson, Maine (3-8) entertains Florida Gulf Coast and the Retrievers (2-9) visiting the
Blue Demons. The Catamounts will go for their third win in four games,
while the Black Bears will try to snap a three-game losing streak and
the Retrievers hope to stop their skid at four games.
At 3:30 p.m., Hartford (6-5) welcomes
Marist to Chase Family Arena. The Hawks, who have won five of their
last seven games, have already won its most non-league games since the
2007-08 campaign with three games left.
On Friday, Albany and Stony Brook dropped contests with the Great Danes losing a heartbreaker to Quinnipiac and the Seawolves falling at Maryland after fighting back from 20 points down to get within two.
Albany (9-3) had its six-game win streak snapped as the Bobcats' Ike Azotam hit a putback with 14 seconds left to break a 57-57 tie and Mike Black's game-winning three missed as the Great Danes fell 59-57. Sam Rowley led the Great Danes with a career-high 15 points and seven boards.
Stony Brook (8-3) was down 20 in the second half before climbing to within two, but ultimately fell at Maryland, 76-69. Jameel Warney scored 17 points for the second straight game to lead the Seawolves.
