CAMBRIDGE,
Mass. - Albany's Julie Forster highlighted two America
East games on Thursday night by setting the program record for career rebounds
in an overtime loss to Sam Houston State. Vermont also fell on the road to
Boston College.
With two rebounds in the first four minutes, Forster
broke the
976 mark set by Danielle Hutcheson in 2005. She finished with 16 points and 10
boards in the game. Ebone Henry led Albany (8-3) with a game-high 29 points,
but the Great Danes had their six-game winning streak snapped in the opening
round of the Beach Classic, dropping a 71-68 decision in overtime to Sam
Houston State.
Albany takes on Canisius, a team the Great Danes
beat earlier this season, in the third-place game of the Beach Classic at 8
p.m. ET on Friday night.
Vermont
(3-9) dropped its eighth road game of the season, falling to Boston College,
80-43, Thursday night. The Catamounts trailed by just four, 30-26, at halftime,
but a 15-2 run by the Eagles to start the second half but the game out of
reach. Kaylea
Britton scored 14 points to lead Vermont.
UMBC (3-7) returns to action after a 13-day hiatus
and makes the short trip to face University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 2 p.m.
The Retrievers are looking to snap a four-game losing skid where the team has
had its offensive struggles, shooting at just 29.3-percent from the floor
during that span. UMES enters the game 3-6 overall, losing two of its last
three games.
Stony Brook (7-4) has a quick turnaround after
beating St. Francis Brooklyn on Wednesday, getting ready for a battle with BIG
EAST foe Rutgers at 5 p.m. The Scarlet Knights are receiving votes in the
ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll. Stony Brook has tied its best start since
2005-06, winning seven of its first 11 games.
