University senior Chantell Alford earned her fourth America East women's
basketball Player of the Week honor of the season, while Albany freshman
Shereesha Richards earned her second-straight Rookie of the Week nod, the
conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Alford (West Haven, Conn.) continued to impress in Boston
University's lone game last week, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing
eight rebounds in a 68-61 overtime win against local rival Harvard. She led the
conference in scoring and steals last week. The Crimson were ranked No. 23 in
the latest Mid-Major Top-25 poll. Alford also added four steals and two assists
to the cause. The senior scored five points in the extra session, to go with
two rebounds and a steal, helping the Terriers outscore Harvard 11-4 in
overtime to take the victory. Alford hit four-of-10 from 3-point range in the
contest, and currently leads the conference in scoring at 18.9 points per game.
Richards (Oceanview, N.J.) earned her second-straight Rookie of the Week
honor after a tremendous performance in Albany's win over Delaware State on
Saturday night. Richards scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, leading all
freshmen in scoring and field goal percentage for the week. She also tacked on
eight rebounds and two steals to help the Great Danes to their sixth-straight
win.

Hartford defeated previously unbeaten Quinnipiac, 67-61, on Sunday... Boston
U. has the top-three players in the conference in minutes played per game this
season... Hartford has had seven different leading scorers through 10 games... Albany

Seawolves have no finished the year with a positive rebounding margin since
