CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On the busiest day
in America East women's basketball since opening night, seven teams hit the
floor on Saturday with three teams in tournaments, three playing at home and
one local rivalry.
The
conference's leading scorer, Chantell Alford, leads Boston University (4-3)
into action against No. 17/15 St. John's at Case Gym at 1 p.m. The Terriers
have played a very competitive schedule, with games that have including No.
14/22 West Virginia, Richmond, Michigan, Boston College, Northeastern and Rhode
Island.
Hartford
(5-1), which found itself ranked ninth in both the ESPN and CollegeInsider.com
Mid-Major Polls, comes off its first loss of the year to host the Big East's
Providence at 2 p.m. The Hawks lead the America East in scoring at 64.7 points
per game.
Albany (4-2)
meets Siena in a highly-touted local rivalry game. The Great Danes have won
three-of-four games. Albany is coming off a 76-41 win over NJIT behind 21
points from preseason all-conference selection Ebone Henry.
Vermont
continues to host the TD Bank Classic, taking on Drexel at 4 p.m. in a game
that will be broadcast by WCAXtra.
Also in
action, New Hampshire will battle Quinnipiac, who is ranked 22nd in the latest
Mid-Major Top-25, at 4 p.m. in the Brown Classic. Maine travels to Florida to
take on Florida Gulf Coast at 4:45 p.m. and Binghamton is at Arizona State at 3
p.m.
