Mass. - The
final weekend of America East volleyball begins on Friday night, with five
teams fighting for four playoff spots. No one has clinched a spot in the
America East Championship, however a lot can be determined on Friday. Albany
can clinch not just a spot in the championship, but its fifth-straight
regular-season title with a win over Providence on Friday. UMBC can also clinch
a spot in the America East Championship with a win over Stony Brook. The rest
will be left to be determined on Sunday.

teams are coming in hot to Friday's match, with Stony Brook winning
four-straight matches and UMBC with victories in back-to-back matches.

Retrievers swept the Seawolves in Baltimore in the first meeting. Hannah
Schmidt and Emily Vandergrift both had double-digit kills, but it was the
blocking of UMBC that was the difference in the contest, as the Retrievers had
15 team blocks.

Great Danes bounced-back after losing back-to-back matches for the first time
since 2003 with a victory over Binghamton on Sunday, putting Albany in the
driver seat for the No. 1 seed in the America East Championship.

A
win over Providence on Friday gives the Great Danes the America East
regular-season title for the fifth-straight season, and eighth time in the last
nine years.

Albany
swept Providence on the road in the first meeting between the two teams. Sara
Pope had 14 kills in that match.
Hartford (8-18, 2-8 AE) at New Hampshire
(6-4, 14-12), 7 p.m.

Wildcats are locked-up with Stony Brook for the fourth and final playoff spot
with identical 6-4 records.

it came down to a head-to-head tiebreak between Stony Brook and New Hampshire,
the Seawolves would win the tiebreak by virtue of scoring more points (177-176)
against New Hampshire in head-to-head matchups.

Hartford
beat UNH in five sets in the first meeting this season, defeating the Wildcats
for the first time since 1996 and ending a 31-match winning streak in the
series for New Hampshire.
