Field Hockey League Play Comes to End Saturday

The America East field hockey championship picture will be settled on Saturday as the final three conference games of the year take place. The second and third seeds are all that's left to be deteremined for next week's tournament, which will take place at UNH for the third-straight year.

•   
Maine (10-7, 2-2 AE) takes on New Hampshire (9-7, 4-0 AE) meet in Orono.
•    Both teams are ranked in this week's national poll with the Wildcats coming in 15th and the Black Bears ranking 25th.
•    The Black Bears can earn the No. 2 seed for the championship with a win and an Albany loss at Vermont. It would be their highest seeding since 2002.
•    UNH, the league's top scoring team (2.78 goals per game), has secured at least a share of its third straight regular-season crown and can earn its second outright title and perfect 5-0 conference record with a win.

Boston U. (10-6, 3-1 AE) goes for a share of the America East regular-season title at home against Fairfield (10-8, 1-3 AE) Saturday.
•    The Terriers can earn that share with a win and a UNH loss at Maine. It would be their 13th-ever title and seventh in nine years.
•    Fairfield has clinched its first-ever America East tournament appearance. The Stags' 10 wins are their most since joining the conference as an associate member in 2007.
•    The Stags are the league's second-ranked offensive team (2.76 goals per game) while the Terriers are the second-ranked defensive squad (1.49 GAA).

•    Albany (10-7, 2-2 AE) tries to lock up the No. 2 seed for the America East Championship Saturday and can do so with a win at Vermont (1-15, 0-4 AE).
•    The Great Danes, winners of five straight, have won 10 or more games each of the last seven years.

•    Albany is 10-5 all-time vs. Vermont and has won three straight and seven of the last eight meetings.

•    Vermont's Stephanie Zygmunt leads the conference and ranks among the tops in the country with 10.12 saves per game.
