CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three standouts who played instrumental roles in their team winning a pair of games over the weekend are this week's America East field hockey weekly award winners. The honorees for the week ending October 21 were announced Monday afternoon.

University at Albany's Jessica Longstreth tallied seven points in two games to earn Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, while University of New Hampshire's Carlie Tarbell allowed just one goal on 20 shots on goal to pick up Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time in three weeks. Additionally, Fairfield's Kaitlyn Taddeo picked up Rookie of the Week recognition after assisting on three scores.

Longstreth (Richboro, Pa.) scored two goals and recorded three assists to lead Albany to a 2-0 week en route to earning Player of the Week recognition. The graduate student forward assisted on Corrine McConville's goal in a 1-0 victory over America East rival Maine on Saturday which earned the Great Danes a spot in the upcoming America East Championship. On Sunday, Longstreth talled two goals and as many assists to guide the Great Danes to a 6-1 win over Yale.

Tarbell (Wakefield, Mass.) recorded her first career shutout to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors. The sophomore goalkeeper had a nine-save effort against 13th-ranked Boston University to lead UNH to a 1-0 victory Friday that secured at least a share of the America East regular-season title for the third consecutive year.  She followed that with a 10-save effort at Providence that anchored the 'Cats to a 2-1 overtime victory. For the week, Tarbell had a 0.47 GAA and .950 save percentage.

Taddeo (Wading River, N.Y.) set up the game-winning goal in Fairfield's 3-2 overtime win Saturday and added two more assists in a win at Penn Sunday to earn Rookie of the Week honors. The freshman midfielder sent a pass to teammate Hillary Fitts, who found the back of the cage just 17 seconds into overtime in the win over Vermont Saturday, which gave the Stags their first-ever America East Championship bid. Taddeo then came off the bench to assist on two of the team's four goals in a 4-2 win over Penn Sunday.

University of Maine also earned a bid to the conference tournament despite its loss to Albany Saturday. By virtue of that result, UNH secured the No. 1 seed for the third straight year. Fairfield will be No. 4 seed while the second and third seeds will be determined this weekend when the Great Danes visit Vermont and the Black Bears host the Wildcats. Fairfield tangles with Boston University in the third and final game.
