Longstreth, Maroney, Coll Take Home Field Hockey Weekly Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Three players that led Albany and Boston U. to America East field hockey wins on Friday are this week's conference award winners. The recipients for the week ending October 14 were announced Monday afternoon.

Albany's Jessica Longstreth picked up Player of the Week honors as she led the Great Danes to two wins by registering five points, while Boston University's Jess Maroney and Rachel Coll earned Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week accolades, respectively, after keying a win over Maine.

Longstreth (Richboro, Pa.) led the Great Danes to a 2-0 week, recording two goals and one assist in the two games, to take home Player of the Week honors. The senior forward set up Corrine McConville's game winner in the 48th minute, which broke a 1-1 tie, in a 3-1 victory over Fairfield Friday. Longstreth then scored twice, including the game's first goal which proved to be the game winner, in Sunday's 9-0 win over Lehigh. She currently leads the league with nine assists and ranks fifth with 19 points.

Maroney (Media, Pa.) did not allow a goal in either of her second halves of play on the week, stopping all four shots she faced en route to the Defensive Player of the Week award. The junior goalkeeper, who has split games with Valentina Cerda all season, earned the win in goal against Maine as she made two saves and allowed the Terriers to score three second-half goals en route to the 3-1 win. to keep the Terriers undefeated in America East play. Maroney leads the conference with a 1.09 goals-against average and an .840 save percentage.

Coll (Greymouth, New Zealand) scored a goal and assisted on the game-tying score in the Terriers' win over Maine Friday to earn Rookie of the Week recognition. The freshman forward, who also earned Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 24, assisted on Ella Gunson's game-tying goal in the 43rd minute and then scored an insurance tally in the 56th minute with her second score of the year.

Along with Boston U., UNH also improved to 3-0 in conference play last week with its 4-2 win over Vermont Friday. The Terriers and Wildcats square off on Friday while Albany plays Maine and Fairfield tangles with Vermont Saturday.
