Albany, Boston U., UNH Pick Up Field Hockey Wins Friday

Boston University and New Hampshire each improved to 3-0 in America East field hockey play and sit tied atop the league standings with two weeks to go. Addtionally Albany picked up its first league win of the year. All nine America East games this season have been decided by two goals or less, including four one-goal decisions and three overtime contests.

•   #23 Albany (7-7, 1-2 AE) scored a pair of second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and down Fairfield (7-8, 0-3 AE) to avoid its first 0-3 start in America East play since 2004.
•    Corrine McConville scored her second of the game in the 48th minute to give Albany a 2-1 win and Daphne Voormolen followed with her team-leading eighth score of the year just 1:40 later for insurance.
•    Hillary Fitts scored an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute for Fairfield.
•   
The Great Danes improved to 6-0 all-time against the Stags and  have outscored them 24-3.

•    Boston U. (9-4, 3-0 AE) scored three unanswered second-half goals to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and beat Maine (9-6, 2-1 AE), 3-1, Friday.
•    Ella Gunson ('44), Jacinda McLeod ('49) and Rachel Coll ('56) each scored for the 12th-ranked Terriers.
•    Holly Stewart scored her third of the year in the 11th minute for the Black Bears, who fell for just the second time in their last 10 games.

•    Second-half goals by Lynne Lehman, Megan Bozek and Molly Heaney lifted 20th-ranked New Hampshire 4-2 UNH (7-6, 3-0 AE) to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Vermont (1-12, 0-3 AE) Friday.
•    Whitlee Burghardt and Angie DeBellis each scored their first goals of the season for the Catamounts.
•    Vermont goalkeeper Stephanie Zygmunt. who ranked second in the country to start the week in saves per game, stopped 13 UNH shots.

•    UNH outshot Vermont 26-5 and had 13 penalty corners to the Catamounts' 2.
