The first week of the America East basketball schedule came to an end with the two teams atop the standings winning contests on Sunday.
Albany (9-7, 3-0 AE) finished the first week with a 3-0 record, including two wins on the road. The Great Danes used stifling defense to get off to a hot start in conference play, which was on full display Sunday in their 57-32 win at Stony Brook (4-12, 1-2 AE). Albany collected 15 steals and held the Seawolves to 23.5 percent field-goal shooting in the second half.
Junior guard Ebone Henry finished with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in the victory. The Danes shot 62.5 percent in the first half en route to 54.5 percent shooting for the game. Destiny Jacobs scored a team-high nine points for the Seawolves.
Earlier in the day in Boston, the Terriers (9-6 overall) moved to 2-0 in conference and handed Binghamton (8-8, 2-1 AE) its first loss in America East play. Boston U. overcame an early deficit to win at home 60-48.
Three Terriers reached double-figure points, led by junior Mo Moran's 13 points. She also dished out five helpers. Chantell Alford and Rashidat Agboola joined her, each with 12 points.
Binghamton's Andrea Holmes and Orla O'Reilly led the Bearcats with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Teams are now off until a three-game slate on Wednesday.
