Binghamton, UNH Top League Foes Thursday Night

Binghamton (8-7 overall record) joined Albany atop the league standings at 2-0 with a road win Thursday night over Stony Brook 44-32.

Binghamton senior Andrea Holmes netted a game-high 19 points and the Bearcats' defense held Stony Brook to 22.2 percent field-goal shooting. Orla O'Reilly finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and six steals.

The loss snapped the Seawolves' three-game winning streak and dropped them to 4-11 overall and 1-1 in America East play.

In Durham, N.H. last night, the Wildcats snapped another streak: an 18-game winless streak against Hartford with a 64-45 wire-to-wire victory. UNH shot well all night, including going 8-for-14 from three-point distance, and distributed the ball well with 19 assists on 24 field goals. Reigning Player of the Week Denise Beliveau scored a game-high 23 points, while teammates Morgan Frame (15 points) and Kelsey Hogan (13 points) joined her in double figures.

Hartford, the defending America East Tournament Champion, falls to 9-7 overall and 0-2 against America East opponents.
