Vermont women’s basketball came under new leadership for the
2010-11 season. Head coach Lori Gear McBride dove right into the excitement of
the America East Conference. Now in her second year, she and the Catamounts
have “geared” up for another intense season of basketball.
Junior forward Lauren Buschmann and the other upperclassmen
have experienced highs and lows together. They have gone from winning a
conference championship and appearing in the NCAA tournament their freshman
year to facing obstacles during a 5-25 season a year ago.
This year, the philosophy has not changed. Thanks to an
enthusiastic freshman class and a solid core of veterans, UVM has a new spark
on the court and started the season 6-2.
After experiencing last year’s transition together, the
Catamounts have gained a new-found confidence anticipating conference play and
the America East Championship.

thoughts on their on-court turnaround from last year and building off six
