New for the 2011-2012 seasons, the America East Daily Word, a collaboration between AmericaEast.com and AExtra, will recap the previous day's games and on goings on our nine campuses and provide links to previews, recaps, features and exclusive coverage.
It’s
only the second conference game of the season for the men’s basketball teams at
UMBC and Albany but its already being dubbed a “big one” in Baltimore.
Albany
and UMBC both started the conference slate with victories on Monday and now
take aim at going 2-0. UMBC hasn’t started 2-0 since the 2007-2008 season while
Albany hasn’t done it since 2005-2006. Both teams advanced to the NCAA
Tournament during those seasons.
So
2-0 is a big deal.
UMBC
enters the game coming off a nice road win at New Hampshire thanks to a big
night from Chase Plummer, who tallied 23 points and grabbed seven boards.
Albany, meanwhile, continues to light up the scoreboard dropping 88 on Monday
against Hartford. Four players scored in double figures for the Danes led by
Gerardo Suero’s 24 points.
Andrew
Santillo of the Troy Record has all the pregame buzz from the New York State
capital in today’s paper. The non-conference season is over and as far as
Albany head coach Will Brown is concerned, both teams are unbeaten.
“We’re
both 1-0,” Brown said in the article. “It’s a new season.”
