Meeting of Last Two League Champions Highlights Thursday's Men's Hoops Games

A matchup of the last two America East champions highlights Thursday men's basketball action, which consists of a full slate of four games.

Reigning league champion Boston U. travels to Vermont, the 2010 champ and last year's regular-season title winner, to open its league season. The Terriers, who are looking to snap a six-game losing skid, swept last year's series, its first of UVM since the 2005-06 campaign. Vermont will rely on its top-ranked defense, which allows a league-low 62.3 points per game, to slow down the Terriers' Darryl Partin, who ranks second in America East and 17th nationally averaging 20.1 points per game.

Elsewhere Thursday, Albany and UMBC meet in Baltimore in a battle of 1-0 teams who are in search of its first 2-0 starts in some time. The Retrievers last started 2-0 in its America East Championship season of 2007-08 while the Great Danes last accomplished the feat in 2005-06 when they captured their first of two straight league crowns.

Riding a three-game win streak, Stony Brook heads to Binghamton in search of their second 2-0 conference start (2009-10) since joining the league 11 years ago. The Seawolves have lost nine straight to the Bearcats in Binghamton, which has won seven of the last nine series meetings overall.

UNH and Hartford each look for its first conference win when they face off in West Hartford. The home team has dominated the series of late with the each team winning nine of the last get togethers on its home court.
