Playing the lone America East men's basketball game of the day, Vermont improved to 7-2 in conference play with a win over UNH Sunday and moved into a tie for second place with Boston University, just one game out of first place in the standings.

The Catamounts were one of three home teams to post wins over the weekend as Stony Brook edged the Terriers Friday to take over sole possession of first place and Maine upended Binghamton Saturday. Albany was the lone road team to earn a win as it downed Hartford Saturday.

Vermont (13-10, 7-2 AE) used a 16-2 game-ending run to post its seventh victory in its last eight games, a 77-60 win over New Hampshire (7-13, 2-7 AE) on Sunday. The Wildcats shot 69 percent in the first half but the Catamounts held them to just 26 percent and 20 points in the second half. Four McGlynn scored a game-high 20 points off the bench for UVM while Chandler Rhoads led UNH with 16.

On Saturday, Albany (14-9, 6-3 AE) outscored Hartford (4-17, 4-5 AE) 16-0 to close the game en route to a 72-60 win at Chase Arena. The Great Danes, who shot 56 percent for the game, got 17 points and eight rebounds from Logan Aronhalt to set the pace. Andres Torres scored a game-high 18 for Hartford, which has dropped three straight after starting 4-2 in league play.

Also on Saturday, Maine (10-10, 4-5 AE) evened up at .500 with a 67-59 win over Binghamton (0-21, 0-9 AE). The Black Bears have now won two in a row since dropping five straight. Justin Edwards led Maine with 18 points while Mike Allison had a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds off the bench. Jimmy Gray scored a career-high 24 points for Binghamton.

Friday night, Stony Brook (13-9, 8-1 AE) beat Boston University, 66-57, in front of a soldout crowd and a national television audience on ESPNU to pull into sole possession of first place in the league standings. The game was a seesaw battle that saw Boston U. grab a nine-point first-half lead before Stony Brook went up by 13 in the second half.

The Terriers roared back with a 17-0 run however to take a 51-47 lead with six minutes left. But, the Seawolves closed the game on a 12-3 run for their ninth win in 10 games. Bryan Dougher scored 20 points to lead Stony Brook while Darryl Partin had 21 for the Terriers.
