Albany, Maine, SBU Earn Wins as League Season Reaches Halfway Point

The America East men's basketball season reached its midway point Wednesday as Stony Brook, Albany and Maine picked up victories. The Seawolves' victory vaulted them into a first place tie with Boston University atop the conference standings. Both teams sit at 7-1 heading into Friday night's showdown on Long Island that will be televised by ESPNU.

Stony Brook (12-7, 7-1 AE) shot 52 percent and held Hartford (4-16, 4-4 AE) to a 31 percent clip and only 13 field goals en route to its 10th win in its last 11 games. The win also extended the Seawolves' home court win streak to 10 games (9-0 this season). Bryan Dougher scored a season-high 22 points for Stony Brook, while Genesis Maciel led Hartford with 10 off the bench.

Albany (13-9, 5-3 AE) shot 57 percent in the second half and rode Gerardo Suero's 25 points performance to a 74-68 win over Binghamton (0-20, 0-8 AE). The Great Danes, who have won six of their last nine overall, extended its home court win streak to 11 games (8-0 this season). Robert Mansell paced Binghamton with 22 points.

Maine (9-10, 3-5 AE) snapped its five-game losing skid with an 80-69 win at New Hampshire (7-12, 2-6 AE). The Black Bears, who have won three straight against UNH, shot 52 percent for the game. Gerald McLemore led the way with 25 points while Alasdair Fraser added a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Chandler Rhoads led Binghamton with 17 points.
